Marquet is a collection of textile art exploring the idea of inlay in a woven textile using a kilim weaving technique.
This technique, often associated with a heavy, thick or stiff textile is applied in this collection with a variety of thickness of yarn, from rug weight wool & mohair to incredibly fine cotton and hand spun silk.
This is a very slow technique, and so the weaving of the collection created a container for thought and reflection, through which I contemplated the notion of a cloth as a vessel, as a space to contain: memory, practice and thought itself
